New Soul Added to Christ (03-23-16)

This evening after Bible study, we had a soul come forward to put the Lord on in baptism. Bro. Keith Murphy continued his series on the importance of developing our communication skills for our spiritual growth. He ended the class by seguing into the various reasons that people followed Jesus and explained the importance of confession.

In Matthew 16:13-18, Jesus asked His disciples, "Whom do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?" The disciples gave their various answers, then Jesus asked them "But, whom say ye that I am?" He wanted them to confess that they knew and understood clearly who He is. Peter confessed, "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." It is on that confession that Christ built HIs church.

After this, Bro. Murphy introduced Joseph Hegwood. He explained that Joseph had already heard the gospel, but had had not yet confessed his belief in Christ, but that he came here tonight to do just that.

Bro. Murhphy: "Do you believe with all of your heart that Jesus Christ is the son of God?

Joseph: I know that He is.

Bro. Murphy: That confession brought death to Christ, but to you, it will mean life eternal.

After his confession, Joseph was baptized for the remission of his sins (Acts 2:38).
