At My Best, I'm a Mess
Are we in the position to know what is best for our lives? When things go wrong do we
know how to fix it? How can we find questions and answers for life’s problems when they arise? After the disarrays we’ve made in our lives, do we understand how to properly reassemble ourselves to operate at our best? Do we have important safety guidelines to help us avoid personal injuries, insults, distresses, persecutions and difficulties? How do we find out the proper care of, handling of, and storage of our personal property such as our heart and mind? Does the life of a Christian come with a Manufacture's Manual?
In the Business Dictionary, the word “manufacturer” is define as an entity that makes a good through a process involving raw materials, components, or assemblies, usually on a large scale with different operations. Manufacturing is a process of converting this raw material into finished goods that meet the expectation and specification of the maker. WOW!
From the Christian Perspective, if we desire to understand the details, proper handling and use of a particular thing, we must consult the maker. If we seek to know what a peculiar people are expected to do, how to act, and how to live in this world we must consult our maker. Who better to know the ends and outs of a thing, then the person that made the thing, Himself?
Genesis 1:1 says, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (PAUSE), please allow me to take just a moment here for a station identification… many people wrongly place God’s creation of this world and of mankind into the classification of
“Once upon a time.” This is not a fairy tale. This irresponsible view of creation can sadly cost someone the loss of their souls for an eternity). (START AGAIN) Gen. 1: 27 states that “Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth." 27 God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” With that being said, we know that God is the creator or the manufacturer. Than we must know that His word would be the manufactures manual.
In Psalms 139:14 the psalmist says, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Even though we are a perfect and divine creation we still need help! Even though we are a wondrous miracle of life we still need help! Help to know where are going, our steps are not our own. Jeremiah 10:23 tells us “I know, LORD, that our lives are not our own. We are not able to plan our own course."
How can one expect to prosper, who do not, by faith and prayer, take God with them in all their ways? How can we be sure to make the right decisions without the Spirit of Discernment? How can we begin to break any influences, persistence, oppression, obsessions, hindrances, harassment or strongholds that the enemy has erected in our life without the sword of the Spirit?
Even at our best without the help of God’s word and the Holy Spirit, we are a mess. Psalms 121 says, “I lift up my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber. Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is your keeper; the LORD is your shade on your right hand. The sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore."
It is verses like these in our Manufactures Manual that teaches us to comfort ourselves in the Lord when we lose our way, or hit those unforeseen potholes or come across an unexpected glitch in life. He is where our help comes from when we think we are on top of our game and fall from spiritual failings. When I read the Manufactures Manuel I am reminded that when I am faced with an important decision, I can give it to my Maker and I can get a good night sleep because He is a wakeful watcher. He is my keeper. When I read my Manufactures Manual I am reminded that He is making me into a finished good. He is where my help comes from to meet His specifications and His expectations in life. He will keep my going out and my coming in from now and forever. Studying and meditating on God’s word is crucial for our everyday function of life. If you don’t read, search and meditate on scripture in your Holy Bible, you will eventually malfunction.
